Employment & Education Unit

The Employment & Education Unit provides members with support in rejoining the workforcewith our transitional employment and through support from the clubhouse and helping further members education

 WORK ORDERED DAY

When a member joins Canefields Clubhouse he/she can choose a unit that they would like to work in.  However there is always the choice available to work for another unit at any time.

Units in the Clubhouse vary, at Canefields Clubhouse we have three (3) units, The Employment and Education Unit, The Administration Reception and Technologies Unit, and The Catering Unit. All units have certain responsibilities within the the Clubhouse that are vital to the functioning of the whole Clubhouse, such as without the Catering Unit we wouldn't get lunch, without the Employment and Education Unit we wouldn't be able to have proper support for our Transitional Employment, or Supported Employment, and with the Administration Reception and Technologies Unit we couldn't Organise Social recreations, have a Newsletter, or even have records for members kept organised and filed.

Each unit has a leader who is responsible for ensuring that members who wish to be involved in the unit have the opportunity to access those activities which interest them.  Work in each unit is a shared experience with staff and members working together to perform all tasks including maintenance and cleaning.

Canefields Clubhouse members also have the opportunity to participate in supervised paid work to regain confidence and self esteem through our Transitional Employment programs

Once members feel fully confident and qualified to work they can then look at getting a full time or part time job.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Members can also participate in in-house training and educational courses such as computer courses and first-aid courses.  Educational classes are also available as the Clubhouse has links with various educational agencies including Eagleby Learning Centre, TAFE and the local Universities.
