Employment

The Employment and Education Unit coordinates information and tasks associated with the employment/education program. The tasks involve keeping statistics of members working and studying, upkeep of members employment files, operating employment database, job searching, and collating information on educational faculties.

The Employment and Education Unit can assist members to enroll in courses in the community. Furthering your education may help in gaining skills to be used in the work force. Canefields offers support and resources to members wishing to further their education.

Transitional Employment

Canefields Clubhouse offers members who lack work experience, confidence or skills for open employment, the opportunity to work at real jobs for real pay.  Members are given unlimited opportunities at TE regardless of past work history or unsuccessful attempts.  There is no such thing as failure at Transitional Employment.

Characteristics of Transitional Employment:

- 6 to 9 months temporary work
- Members are paid at award wages

- Members complete TE work at the employer's place of business
- All TEs are entry level and do not require qualifications
- An absence of work history and or hospitalisation will not affect a member's chance to obtain a TE
