Canefields Clubhouse is Moving!

Canefields is excited to announce that we will be moving premises! The official date is 29 March 2010. Canefields is still staying in the Logan area, and moving over to Meadowbrook - just across the road from the Logan Hospital! The address of our new premises is: Unit 2, 13 Logandowns Dr, Meadowbrook 4131. We will be located virtually behind McDonalds and the Meadowbrook Tavern and will have ample car spaces for everyone to park! The new premises is within walking distance from the Loganlea train station which is very exciting. Our kind landlords are currently in the process of having a mezzanine level built for our Catering Unit, which will be the size of our current Clubhouse. Downstairs is where our Administration and Employment and Education Units will be; and it will all be BRAND NEW!! Transport for our members will all be exactly the same arrangements, with pick ups and drop offs in the Beenleigh and Eagleby areas as well as Logan Clinic pick ups and drop offs Mondays and Fridays. All of the moving arrangements will be discussed in a house meeting on Friday 5th March and Monday 8th March, so members please ensure your attendance so we all understand what will be happening. We are hoping to host our Employment and Education dinners, Annual Art Show and other events in our new building. Canefields Clubhouse is currently fundraising for the move so we need all the support we can get. for more information read our newsletter

Good-bye old Clubhouse!

2010 Australasian Conference in brief

Canefields Clubhouse is proud and excited to be organising the 9th Australasian Clubhouse Conference. The dates of the Conference are 26-29 September 2010 and the venue chosen is Cedar Creek Lodges, Thunderbird Park, in the hinterlands of Mt Tamborine. We have already begun planning and discussing the topical agenda, as well as accepting registrations for all Clubhouses. The registration process is to be completed online and the topical agenda can be submitted online or via hardcopy in the mail. Due to the remote location of the venue, all meals will be provided onsite, and all conference package prices are on our website. If your organisation or Clubhouse registers before 2 April 2010 you will receive $50 off the total price of each delegate booked into the low conference package when you pay your deposit! On the final night - the Gala night, Cedar Creek Lodges is hosting a Country and Western themed night, with a live band, 5 buffet stations and heel and toe dancing. We hope to see you there! Please follow the pink links on the Left side bar for more information.

Don Waters the Canefields Clubhouse Patron

Don Waters has recently agreed to become the Patron of Canefields Clubhouse.  Both Don and his wife Marg have been friends of the clubhouse for the past 4 years and Don has now formally become our patron. The members, staff and management committee of the clubhouse are very excited and pleased to have Don as our Patron.

A note from Donald Waters

I would have been more than honored if I had been invited to become a member of the Canefields Clubhouse but to become your patron is exceptional. At present I am becoming familiar with your operation and all the opportunities that your club presents to its members. I will take every opportunity to promote the clubhouse and above all the need for employment.

As you would appreciate my career of an artist places a strain on me time wise as I am a one man production covering a large market. For all the artists in the club I will make every Endeavour to watch your progress during the year as Margaret and I have done in the past. One of the highlights of my year is to attend your art evening and auction where it is so evident the progress that the artists obtain in such a short period of time. You would not be aware that Marg and I collect art from all around the world and pride of place are all the paintings that we have purchased from the Clubhouse artists.

Art is such an important tool in expressing who we are and showing to the world with pride the personal journey we are on. Over the years I have been very honest with my art and have not been afraid to paint what and how I want to but by doing this I have been subjected to criticism. As an artist you must always remember you do not paint for anyone else but for yourself, as this is your personal journey.

Again I would like to say how honored and excited I am in becoming a member of the Canefields Clubhouse and looking forward to the opportunity to meet each and every one of you.
